Godric Smith and Mike Davey have been appointed Chair of Cambridge United FC and Chair of Cambridge United Foundation respectively, following unanimous approval by Owners, Directors and Trustees at Board meetings last week.
Godric takes over from Shaun Grady, who will remain a Club Director. Mike replaces Godric as Foundation Chair, and both will continue to sit on both Boards to ensure the strongest possible links between both sides of the club.
Paul Barry, Majority Owner, said, “On behalf of everyone at Cambridge United I would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation for all that Shaun has done during his eight years as Chair. His calm and thoughtful leadership has been a key factor in helping move the club
forward over recent times, and he hands over with Cambridge United in a very different place to when he first joined. We are all very happy he has agreed to continue as a Director.
“Mark and I are also very pleased that Godric will be the new Chair with the unanimous support of the Board. Godric is from Cambridge, a lifelong fan and someone I have known for over 30 years through our mutual love of the club. He is well respected across the city and passionate about the positive role Cambridge United can play in its future. Mike is also someone who has deep links in Cambridge and has been an excellent addition to both Boards since he joined last summer. It is great he has agreed to lead this next important chapter for the Foundation.”

£27 million underlines our reach. There is a widespread recognition that, if the city is to grow sustainably and equitably, it is important there is more opportunity and help for those who need it most. Cambridge United Foundation stands ready to play our full part in helping do that.”
