Bovis Homes has officially opened the new outdoor play area at its Coggeshall Mill development in Coggeshall, to the delight of children in the village who were keen to try out the equipment.
Local families were invited a launch event at the site, where visitors were treated to free ice cream.
The new play area features a variety of equipment designed to appeal to children of all ages, including a play tower with climbing wall, rope walkway and slide, a large swing, stepping logs, balance beams, horizontal bars and a spring rider.
Bovis Homes, which is part of Vistry Group, is building 158 homes at the development on land north of Colchester Road.
Verity Macey, Managing Director of Vistry Central Home Counties, said: “Providing high-quality and immersive play equipment for children is integral to the creation of happy and healthy communities. Coggeshall Mill has proved particularly popular with families so I’m sure the new play area will become a real focal point for people living at the development and the wider village.

The playground is situated within the public open space in the northern part of the site, where construction work is continuing. All 51 properties in phase one of the development, in the southern part of the site, have now been completed.
On the same day as the playground opening, Bovis Homes hosted an open house event in its featured home, the four-bedroom detached Blackberry, giving visitors an opportunity to look inside this completed plot which is available to buy and ready to move into.
