All Co-op stores will open as usual this May Bank Holiday as the hottest weekend of the year so far means Brits are set to flock to shops for last minute BBQ supplies, booze and picky bits.
While many retailers scale back trading hours over the long weekend, Co-op stores will continue to serve communities as normal, typically from 7am to 10pm, making it easy for shoppers to pick up everything they need, when they need it.
Sunseekers are expected to pop to Co-op for barbecue essentials, ice, picky bits and chilled drinks as the warmer weather sparks a wave of impromptu get togethers.
In preparation, Co-op is rolling in extra stock of the Gen Z favourite and TikTok famous BuzzBallz as sales are predicted to rise by 30%, while 36,000 bottles of its Irresistible prosecco are expected to be popped as weekend celebrations take hold.
Bags of ice can often be one of the biggest sellers on hot days and demand is expected to climb, as Co-op ships in 270 tonnes with forecasts to sell one bag every two seconds.
As temperatures rise and Brits fire up their barbecues, Co-op is increasing the amount of burgers, sausages and barbecue meats in store by 58% and doubling the amount of picnic lines from its 3 for 2 offer for heatwave grazers.
Nicole Tallant, Director of Commercial at Co-op said: “We know Bank Holiday weekends are all about making the most of time with friends and family – especially when the sun comes out. Whether shoppers are planning a get together or popping in last minute, our stores are open as usual and we’re ready and fully stocked with everything needed for a great weekend.”
