Honda has secured a major honour at the Autocar Awards 2026, with the all-new Honda Prelude named Best Hybrid Car, marking a triumphant return for one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates.
The award recognises the Prelude’s innovative hybrid powertrain, which combines responsive performance with impressive efficiency to deliver a refined yet engaging driving experience, further enhanced by Honda’s S+ Shift technology that provides seamless, simulated shift control for greater driver involvement. Blending modern design with a heritage-inspired identity, the Prelude represents a new chapter for Honda’s electrified line-up.
Commenting on the Prelude’s success, Mark Tisshaw, Editor of Autocar, said: “The Honda Prelude is easily the most interesting, encouraging new hybrid performance car to come along in 2026, and the offer of its talents for a rather reasonable price is the cherry on the cake.”
Michael Doyle, Head of Automobile at Honda Motor Europe – UK, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to see the Prelude recognised as Best Hybrid Car at the Autocar Awards 2026. This model represents the perfect balance between performance and efficiency, while honouring the heritage of a much-loved nameplate.
