A Hethersett site manager has won a second award for their commitment to quality in housebuilding this year, cementing their status as one of the best in the UK.
Shane Janse Van Vuuren, who oversees work at Taylor Wimpey’s Heather Gardens development in Hethersett, has received a Pride in the Job 2026 Seal of Excellence Award from the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
The award is the next step up from the Quality Award that Shane won earlier this year, and demonstrates that the homes at Heather Gardens are of the very highest standard.
Shane has worked at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia for over two decades, and has been the senior site manager at the developer’s Hethersett development since its launch in March 2017. While managing the Heather Gardens site, Shane has won 10 Pride in the Job Quality Awards and three Seals of Excellence Awards from the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
Pride in the Job celebrates site managers’ dedication to raising standards, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence. Judging is rigorous, with thousands of assessments taking place across 7,500 sites.
Only 450 people were selected as Quality Award winners this year – with 47 of those working for Taylor Wimpey – and only the very best are then awarded the Seal of Excellence.
Shane Janse Van Vurren, Senior Site Manager at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia’s Heather Gardens development in Hethersett, said: “Winning a Seal of Excellence Award is a special moment for me and my team. Pride in the Job is so important to site managers. It’s often talked about as the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, so to be amongst the few people to receive the honour this year makes me feel very proud, especially in my 20th year at Taylor Wimpey.
“We’ve worked really hard to ensure that our standards are high across all aspects of our work, as we want to make sure that we build the very best quality homes for customers. I want to thank my team for their fantastic support.”
Barry Pennock, Production Director at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: “We want our customers to know that any home that they buy from us is of the highest quality, which is why the Pride in the Job awards are so important to us. Winning the Seal of Excellence Award is another brilliant achievement for Shane and his team at Heather Gardens.”
Cassandra Codling, Senior Regional Director at NHBC said: “Congratulations to Shane and the team on their win. They have demonstrated incredible dedication, passion, commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality.
“The Pride in the Job competition is at the heart of NHBC’s core purpose to raise standards in house building. It inspires site managers to make their mark on the industry, earning the respect of their peers and leaving a legacy of homes built to the highest quality standards.”
