Community groups across Essex and Hertfordshire are set to benefit after nearly £31,000 was awarded in the latest round of grants from the Stansted Airport Community Fund (SACF).
A total of 11 projects across Uttlesford, East Herts, Epping Forest and Harlow have secured funding, supporting everything from village improvements to youth projects and community wellbeing.
From apple orchards to scout huts, the funding will help improve local facilities and bring people together in communities close to the airport.
Projects receiving cash include:
  • A £3,000 revamp and extension of a community orchard in Stebbing
  • £4,800 for solar panels and upgrades for Silver Leys Scout Group
  • £3,330 for a new bistro trailer at Birchwood High School
  • £4,500 for accessible fitness equipment in Epping Forest
  • £5,000 for a new tractor at the Gibberd Garden in Harlow
  • £1,500 for equipment for the Female Founders Community CIC gift shop
Smaller projects have also received support, including therapy equipment, village hall improvements and upgrades for local community groups.
In total, £30,778 has been awarded in this round, helping groups keep vital projects going and improve facilities for local residents.
Maggie Sutton, Chair of the Fund, said:
“These grants will make a real difference to communities around the airport, supporting projects that bring people together, improve local facilities and promote wellbeing. It’s fantastic to see such a wide range of organisations benefitting, from schools and scout groups to charities and community spaces, all helping to strengthen the areas we serve.”
Matthew Dickin from The Gibberd Garden said:
“Thank you for the fantastic news, we’re absolutely delighted. This funding towards a new tractor will make a real difference in helping us look after and maintain the garden for everyone who enjoys it.”
Ina Zakaidze from the Female Founders Community CIC said:
“Thank you so much for awarding Female Founders Community CIC £1,500 towards the cost of smaller items for our project. We’re genuinely grateful to the Stansted Airport Community Fund for supporting our work and believing in what we’re building for local women and community groups.”
