Ferrari UK has donated £2,400 to the Guild of Motoring Writers’ Benevolent Fund following the conclusion of its inaugural Motorsport Photography Competition, held at the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli UK race event in Silverstone in May.
The competition, won by Ellie Majumdar, was created to support emerging motorsport photography talent, providing finalists with three days of guidance, mentoring, and practical support from experienced motorsport photographers. Working under real-world event conditions in the pit lane and trackside, participants refined their technical skills while developing their creative approach to motorsport photography.
The donation was raised through the sale of 18 exclusive photographic prints produced by the competition’s six finalists, with each submitting three images capturing the atmosphere, action, and emotion of the race weekend. Their photographs were printed and framed for public display, where they were also made available to purchase – with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the Guild of Motoring Writers’ Benevolent Fund.
Established in 1969, the Benevolent Fund has provided confidential support to Guild of Motoring Writers members and their families for more than half a century. The fund assists individuals facing financial hardship, illness, bereavement, or unexpected personal difficulties, while also offering practical guidance and support to help members navigate challenging circumstances.
The Regional Manager for Ferrari North Europe, Federico Pastorelli, said: “We are delighted to present this donation to the Guild of Motoring Writers’ Benevolent Fund. The photography competition was designed to support and develop emerging talent within motorsport photography, so it is particularly rewarding to see it also make a meaningful contribution to an organisation that has supported members of the motoring media community for generations.”
With the competition successful in providing aspiring photographers with valuable industry experience, aspiring professional photographers are encouraged to keep an eye on the @FerrariUK Instagram channel for details about next year’s competition.
